Rainbow Milkshakes for St. Patrick's Day

The boys are off from school for Spring Break & I wanted to create a special treat for St. Patty's Day! You know we all love ice cream at my house so I created a Rainbow MilkShake! It is super easy to do. I used vanilla ice cream and food looking to create our rainbow shake but you could use sorbet or frozen yogurt also. Start with the red layer, filling your glass 1/6 way full. Place glass in freezer, allowing layer to set up for about 10 minutes in the freezer before adding the next layer. Repeat process with all of the colors until you complete the rainbow! You can top with whipped cream & sprinkles if you desire!

Candy Corn Milkshake

One of my sweet readers wrote me about my red, white & blue shakes we made for July 4th & asked if I was creating any milkshakes for Halloween.  I immediately thought of candy corn & what a cute shake idea it would make!  I loved the way they turned out & they are so easy to make!

To make our candy corn shakes,  I started with a batch of homemade vanilla ice cream (you could use store bought ice cream as well).  Divide ice cream into 3 equal parts in 3 separate containers. Place the container with the plain vanilla back into the freezer. Mix up 1/3 of vanilla with yellow & the remaining 1/3 with orange gel color. Fill your glasses 1/3 full of yellow ice cream & place back in the freezer to set. Follow with 1/3 orange allowing each layer to set up in the freezer.  Fill the glass with the plain vanilla & top with whipped cream & sprinkles!  Enjoy!

United Shakes of America

Summer is definitely here in Phoenix!  Our high today is 114 degrees & it is ridiculously HOT!  To help try to keep cool, my boys & I make home made ice cream a couple times of week.  Last week, we made home made chocolate chip cookie sandwiches with vanilla ice cream & toffee sprinkles.  This week, we made red, white, & blue mini milkshakes in honor of Independence Day.  My oldest, Jake, dubbed our creation "The United Shakes of America".

To make, start with a batch of homemade vanilla ice cream & divide into 3 equal parts. Place the 1/3 of the plain vanilla back into the freezer.  Mix up 1/3 of vanilla with red & the remaining 1/3 with blue gel color in separate containers.  Fill your glasses 1/3 full of blue ice cream & place back in the freezer to set.  Follow with 1/3 white & 1/3 red, allowing each layer to set in between.

We topped ours with whipped cream & few sprinkles! YUM!  Summer is starting to look a little cooler!
