I Spy

Remember the "perfect" invitations for Jake's Alex Rider spy party I posted last month? They were $150! This is my inexpensive alternative created with file folders from the Container Store, envelopes from Staples, and my computer! The "recruits" received their assignment & had to decipher the location, time, and date of their mission. Their "training facility" is at Stratum, the world's largest laser tag arena. Our spy kit favors were created from boxes from the Container Store with the Alex Rider logo printed on clear mailing labels. More details to follow...........

Luck o' the Irish

On Marthastewart.com, The Finer Things and Hostess with the Mostess blog, I saw these simple and fun ideas to bring a little of the Irish home to celebrate the holiday. The cookies and cupcakes are great to do with the kids and big boys love Stout floats (a little Guinness, vanilla ice cream, what's not to like!). Happy St. Patty's Day!

Peter Cottontail

Pottery Barn Kids has the cutest Peter Cottontail place settings for Easter. I thought it also would be perfect for a baby shower or a 1st birthday as well. To play up the garden theme, place vintage watering cans filled with fresh flowers. Tie seed packs with twine or ribbon for napkin rings. Host it outdoors in a beautiful garden setting with bunny statues hidden within the garden. Serve field green salads with all of Peter's favorite veggies. Don't forget to serve carrot cake for dessert!

Get Lucky

Feel the luck of the Irish and host your own St.Patrick's party! Check out thefinerthings.com for fun invites and ideas! Hide a pot of gold for the kids in a leprechaun treasure hunt! There's nothing like Guiness beer and Irish Whiskey for getting in the spirit. Try serving a traditional Irish dinner (my mom always used to make corned beef and cabbage) and enjoy the holiday.

So flippin' cute

I saw these flip flop cakes on Better Homes & Gardens and thought they would be perfect for a little girls luau party (yes N.H. I am thinking of you). And I love these ribbon flip flops for a party craft for the girls-really cute & simple to do! Aloha!
