Halloween Lanterns
I have been shopping my little heart out for my clients party & found these Halloween lanterns at TJ Maxx yesterday! I bought 12 in 3 different sizes which range in from 15" to 30". I plan on grouping them together
& staggering them on either side of the front steps. I am also adding pumpkins of various sizes and colors. Now, what to do with the front door....mmm hmm
Cupcake Witch Hats
How SPOOKTACULAR are these Witch Hat Cupcake Toppers from Half Baked? They are made from cupcake liners people! This would be a fun, easy craft for the kiddos too!
So easy, & super adorable!
For all the details, visit Half Baked.

Barbie Dream House 2011
Have you seen the 2011 American Institute of Architects Barbie Dreamhouse designed by recent Harvard master’s grads Ting Li and Maja Paklar? Their design houses 1500-square-foot entertaining space and open chef’s kitchen, a separate library and client-meeting room, a full-floor “inspiration room,” a greenhouse on the roof, and a landscaped garden for a menagerie of pets. It also has solar panels, operable shading, bamboo flooring, low-flow fixtures, and locally sourced materials. And my favorite, a pink Vespa in the driveway. This house has just about everything Architect Barbie needs.

Party Planning Mode
Sorry for the lack of posts this week-I am in FULL party planning mode for my clients SPOOKTACULAR birthday bash! Our color scheme is orange, black & white & I am DESPERATELY looking for some Halloween party printables that will work with our color scheme. They can't be TOO scary (she is only 7 after all) . Has anyone seen anything cute out there? Also, looking for some fun cake ideas-keep your eyes open for me. I should be back to regular posting next week.

Coffin Invitations
Last week, one of my design clients hired me to plan her daughters Spooktacular birthday party! Our birthday girl wants a Halloween themed event. This week, I have been working on the invitations. I think that a great invitation gets guests excited for the party & sets the tone for the event! I hope the guests are excited when they receive her birthday invitation in this glittered coffin....
The boxes started out like this! I found these unfinished wood coffins at Michaels. When you open the lid, a creepy & scary laugh greets you ( I think the kids will love it! ) I painted the entire coffin black & added a final coat of glitter. I made pinwheels for the top of the coffin to add a little dimension.
Inside the box, I placed the invitation scroll nestled within candy corn & a black glittered spider.
I am considering adding a small banner that reads, "Open if you dare" across the pinwheel. Do you think it needs it or should I leave it the way it is? Either way, I think the kids will LOVE opening this invitation!

Playrooms with Unexpected Style
Today’s guest post is from Susi, a writer for Arcadian Lighting. Founded in 2002, Arcadian Home Decor originally started selling decorative home lighting fixtures and lamps online with its first website Arcadian Lighting, and has become one of the top Internet retailers for home lighting products. Visit their website and cool blog for more information. Enjoy.
Playrooms are usually areas of controlled (or uncontrolled) chaos. However, playrooms can be just as stylish as the rest of the home. Colorful palettes, creative toy storage, and room for imagination can create playrooms with unexpected style. Here are 8 stylish playrooms that encourage the imagination and contain the chaos:
A colorway of primary colors establishes a bold style for this organized playroom. Love the cluster of colorful shades above the play table. Buckets, boxes and bins make for stylish storage.
A predominately white room sets the stage for bold color and pattern. Contemporary style isn't gender specific. And who wouldn't want an indoor slide?
Clever thinking can turn a small or awkward space into a charming and stylish playroom. A cloud shaped nook with a lovely mix of pendant lights becomes a magical reading space in this contemporary playroom.
Architectural salvage creates a charming playroom space in this attic garret. Using architectural elements can create a separate area within a larger room just for play.
Colorful textiles and wall coverings add style to any room, especially a playroom. Vintage inspired curtains and border add a nostalgia to this colorful playroom. Love the pennant garland.
Toys with style fill this playroom. Inspirational toys and the space to play offer opportunities to let the imagination run wild. Love the teepee and book nook.
Chalkboard paint is almost a must for a stylish playroom. Where else can you draw on the walls and not get in trouble? Chalkboard paint now comes in a rainbow of colors if you think black is too dark. We like the way the colorful drawings pop on the dark wall.
Use art to inspire colors in a playroom. Bold, graphic art works well in a playroom. Carry the color into the room through accessories and storage for a stylish playroom. Again pendant lighting over the work table is the perfect lighting choice for this space.
