Art Rules

All kids need a friendly reminder from time to time & these art prints from Land of Nod are the perfect advertisement for those house rules..

how many times do we say this on a weekly basis?

I am thinking we need a "Go Ask Your Father" print too

we all need a little more sharing

Everyone in my family adores cookies & I am always looking for unique cookie cutters.  Perpetual Kid has some fun new products like these letter pressed stampers

& these Gingerdead Men (I see them in white & black frosting, with black sanding sugar on the skeleton)

& these Munchstaches would make the cutest pops.

Candy Corn Milkshake

One of my sweet readers wrote me about my red, white & blue shakes we made for July 4th & asked if I was creating any milkshakes for Halloween.  I immediately thought of candy corn & what a cute shake idea it would make!  I loved the way they turned out & they are so easy to make!

To make our candy corn shakes,  I started with a batch of homemade vanilla ice cream (you could use store bought ice cream as well).  Divide ice cream into 3 equal parts in 3 separate containers. Place the container with the plain vanilla back into the freezer. Mix up 1/3 of vanilla with yellow & the remaining 1/3 with orange gel color. Fill your glasses 1/3 full of yellow ice cream & place back in the freezer to set. Follow with 1/3 orange allowing each layer to set up in the freezer.  Fill the glass with the plain vanilla & top with whipped cream & sprinkles!  Enjoy!

Wall Puzzles

I was looking for wall decals for a client project & stumbled on these Wall Puzzles created by Modern EdenBlik . The fun wall puzzles are extremely durable, movable & reusable.

Wall Puzzles come in four different habitats: “Grassland,” “Rainforest, “Farm” and “Polar” and each form a 36” x 9” animal scene.

Individually, the puzzles are not too difficult for toddlers, but when all four sections are aligned in a row they become an engaging challenge for preschoolers. Best of all, they don’t use any precious table space and will hang out until your child is ready to play

Harry Potter Travel Posters

What if  Muggles could travel to the magical world for a little vacation?  That is the idea behind Caroline Hadilaksono's travel posters which promote the magical world as travel destinations to non-magical folk.  Can you imagine visiting Hogwarts at night?
How about attending the Quidditch Cup?
Or traveling on the Hogwarts Express?
I love these posters & how they encourage imagination & creativity.  For more details, click here.

Favorite New Series

I have to tell you about my new favorite book series!  My teenage son first read The Hunger Games this summer and literally could not put in down.  He insisted I read it & I absolutely LOVED it!  It is the story of 16 year old Katniss, who lives in District 12 in the post-apocalyptic country of Panem.  All of the Districts are controlled by a powerful government which is know as the Capitol. As punishment of rebellion against the Capitol, they hold an annual Hunger Games. The Capitol conducts a random selection of 1 boy and 1 girl from each district competes in a televised fight to the death.  I can't tell you anymore or else I will be giving it away but trust me, it is a page turner!

Two days later we were in the bookstore buy the second book in the series, Catching Fire

And three days later we were back buying the final book, Mocking Jay

I SO highly recommend this series for young adults-even my Mom loved it!  Has anyone else read this series?  Did you like it as much as we did?

Easy Dessert Idea

One of my favorite last minute desserts ideas are mini ice cream cones.  I keep a few packages in the freezer for those impromptu get togethers!  They are easy, yummy & oh so adorable!

I set up shot glasses filled with candy or mini marshmallows, set them on plates & put them to the side.  When it is time to serve dessert, I place a cone in each glass & we are good to go.

I buy my minis at Trader Joe's.  You get 8 mini cones, in chocolate or vanilla ice cream for $2.99.  What a deal! Depending on the crowd, I usually plan on 2-3 cones per person.

What is your favorite go to, quick dessert?

Poker Pendant

I just sent this to my girlfriend who is throwing a modern casino party for her hubby's birthday & I am kinda obsessing about them-aren't they FABULOUS!  I am trying to convince her she needs at least 11 for her party & she's trying to talk me into making them.   Not sure I am that crafty but know that Nick Sayers is.

Simple Style Playroom

I have been busy working on several projects the past few weeks.  When working in design, it seems to become a little overwhelmed with all the details.  So when I saw the rustic simplicity of this playroom from AD on ediTORIal, I just adored it's uncomplicated, simple perfection.

 Sometimes less IS more.

Measure up

I am SO ordering this tape measure watch as birthday gift for my favorite seamstress.  My son said that it would make a "cool" belt & I was horrified of the idea of it around my waist for all the world to see but love it as a watch band, absolute creative genius.

To order yours, visit undoneclothing on Etsy.

SEVEN

I have been committed to increasing my networking opportunities these past few months & have met some incredible & inspirational women in the process.  Last week I met with the ladies of Seven, a Women's Business Networking Organization though out the Phoenix area.  I brought these chocolate covered marshmallows to their potluck meeting, spelling out their SEVEN  logo &

a few 7 numerals for fun.  The great part is that everyone loved them & I received lots of complements.  However, everyone thought my business was making sweets not interior design.

So ladies, any suggestions?  How do I tie in my love for sweets with my design business?

Book exchange

Tomorrow night my girlfriend Kerri is hosting our Bunco group with a Black & White theme.  She is asking everyone to bring their favorite book off their shelves for a gift exchange.  I have wrapped up my copy of  "The Help" & am excited to see what story I receive.  I think this is such a fabulous idea for anyone-I love the idea of sharing stories with friends!

Older Than Dirt

You know how much I love a good laugh & this fun gift idea from Brown Paper Packages is right up my alley. Kierste used ground up Oreos for the "dirt" but I think I will use ground coffee or espresso beans for our version.

I love the gift tags....

Business Cards III

Another version of the paint chip design...I am thinking to do each card in a different color way

Business Cards II

I have been lovin' the idea of using paint chips as business cards...granted these are just a mock up to give the general idea.

do you prefer light or dark printing, is font too whimsical?  Seriously could use your help...

Business cards

I have been working on a few business card designs & will be posting my ideas over the next few days.  My first design incorporates my slight obsession of quatrefoils & love of Spanish tile-what do you think? (click on image to enlarge)

Basketball Rocks Favor

It is the end of another basketball season & what's a Mom to do for favors for the team party?  At the end of last season, I made these Skor'd Big favors for the boys.  We have the same group of boys on the team & I wanted to give them a little something different.  We came up with this ROCKIN' favor...

all packaged up & ready for the party

I created a simple tag for the pop rocks with clip art on MSPaint.  I am off to a clients furniture installation & then a little shopping.  Happy Tuesday!
