I am officially a bag lady this week! I have been stocking our girls weekend survival totes with all of our necessary supplies: water, magazines, sunscreen, body shimmer, gum, recovery rockstar, lip gloss, advil & glitter nail polish.
I still have one last surprise for the girls I am picking up today & we will be ready to go!
I had grand ideas for name tags but resorted to glitter tags with stickers, SIGH. If only I had more hours in the day...
When consulting with a client on a contemporary theater project, I discovered LED Wallpaper. This textile combines sound-absorbing properties with LED lights which cast a colorful low-energy glow over any interior space. The LED lights are available in a wide palette of colors, allowing the user to change the mood or color of the room whenever desired.
My BFF's son is turning seven & it is a Star Wars theme birthday this year. I love tying in my gift into the party theme but didn't want to get the typical Star Wars toys. Collin is a little foodie in the making & I immediately thought of Williams Sonoma. I picked up Star Wars cookie cutters, sandwich cutters & pancake molds. I also ran next door to PBKids and found the cutest Darth Vader cloth bin to put everything in for our special birthday boy.
I can't wait to see what the birthday chef creates with his new kitchen toys!
The boys were so THRILLED during our Stay for A Spell Weekend at the Westin Kierland. When we arrived at the resort Friday, the boys were sent over to HP Headquarters to pick up their magical bag that was filled with a wand, HP glasses, Honeydukes candy & the Quibbler which listed the events for the weekend. Here are my two Harry's trying out their glasses & wands (PS I FORGOT my camera, can you belive it?!!! Thank goodness we all have camera phones now, pics aren't great but the memories are)
They began with a treasure hunt in which the boys ran around the hotel & acquired collector pins on their lanyards
we spent the rest of the afternoon/evening swimming & watching Harry Potter movies. At 9:00 Saturday morning, we boarded the platform at 9 3/4 for the final HP movie at the Scottsdale IPic. The theater was AMAZING & we LOVED the movie...so bittersweet to see it all end. We went to a yummy lunch & headed back to the resort so the boys could attend Professor Slughorn's Candy Potion Class.
After candy potion class, we competed in the family Tri-Wizard Tournament. Jake loved the Muggle pie eating contest
although we did not win, we still had so much fun!
We worked up quite an appetite after the Triwizard competition & went down to feast at the Leaky Cauldron. The Butterbeer was cool & refreshing after a day at Hogwarts & the feast was delicious! We ended the evening with yummy Honeydukes S'mores & pumpkin juice by the fire.
Sunday morning, we attend Professor McGonagalls class & won the HP trivia contest! After, the boys participated in the Horocrux Treasure hunt & were the first to complete the hunt! The boys spent some time in Game on Wheels playing video games until it was time for the Quidditch Cup! I am happy to report that my youngest captured the Golden Snitch & won for Team Gryffindor!
It was truly a magical weekend for our entire family & my boys said it was the BEST HP weekend ever!
My boys received a package from Hogwarts this morning
delivered by Owl Post
inside was an official Hogwarts letter inviting them to Harry Potter weekend at The Westin Kierland. They were SO surprised & excited! The weekend is filled with HP events & activities for the kids & a private screening of the movie! My boys are thrilled about the family Quidditch tournament, the feast at the Leaky Cauldron (complete with Honeydukes S'mores of course) & Snape's Potion Class!
Inside the package from Hogwarts were HP tees & sweets for the weekend.
I will share all the details with you next week & hope your weekend is just as magical!
How FABULOUS are the invites for our Girls Weekend from Jess of Party Box Design? I was lucky enough to win one of her designs in a recent giveaway! Jess is so fun to work with, amazingly patient & super sweet! She sent me the file, I printed them at home, added a little glass glitter to the cherry for a little sparkle & mailed them off today! Couldn't have been any easier!
If you have an event coming up, be sure to visit Party Box Design & check out all of her fun designs! Thanks Jess for such a wonderful giveaway!
A new blog feature I will be periodically running are design trends that I am seeing through my client projects; called DesignDO or Design DON'T. This feature will allow you to see design trends & give your opinion.
My first design DO or DON'T is the current trend of glass counter tops. This product is a laminated art glass kitchen countertop with unlimited color interlayer which creates remarkable depth.
My laptop is finally home & all better! I started working on a few things for our Girls Only Weekend at the end of July & picked up these fun tote bags at Ann Taylor Loft! Perfect for the spa or pool side for the girls! Now here is where I need your help! Should I add "girls weekend twenty eleven" to the bags in between the sequin stripes OR monogram each girls initals ORleave them alone?
Seriously, could use your help & would love to hear what you think-which option do you like?
My computer has contracted a horrible virus & is currently seeking treatment at data doctors! Hopefully, I will have it back next week! Until then, I hope you all have a wonderful & safe 4th of July weekend!
